Abbas Premjee was born in 1968 in Pakistan and taught himself how to play guitar at a very early age. After migrating to the United States in 1985, Abbas played guitar for a number of rock and jazz bands in the LA area, subsequently graduating with an undergraduate degree in music composition and then a Masters degree in classical guitar from SMU in Dallas, Abbas then went on to study world music, specializing in the music of the Indian subcontinent. He studied the Indian slide guitar with Ustad Raees Khan and then went on to become a World fusion artist, releasing two albums, “Elements” (2008) and “Crescent Moon” (2011) which charted new territories for this style of music. In 2011, Abbas turned his attention towards Production music as he felt this style would allow him to use and successfully combine all that he loved. His music has been used in ads for Coca-Coca, Microsoft, Google, Prudential and Wendy’s and has also been featured in Saturday Night Live (NBC), The Voice (NBC), American Pickers (A &E), Say Yes to the Dress (TLC), Brain Games, Catfish (MTV), Pawn Stars and Top Gear (BBC), to name a few. Abbas’s music has a heartfelt lyricism that successfully combines the old and the new giving a fresh but familiar sound to his music.
